Philosophy & Mission Statement

Philosophy

Sexuality is an integral part of everyday life. It is a basic element of our human existence for our whole life. Sexuality is the expression of our sexual identity and is influenced by socialization, by cultural, spiritual, and personal values and beliefs, and by the health of the individual.

Sexual Health Centre Saskatoon envisions a society where comprehensive, ongoing sexuality education along with up-to-date information and support services to back up this education are available to all people at all stages of their lives. We believe that this would result in a much lower incidence of crisis situations like unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, including AIDS, and other social problems related to sexuality. Such a society would help individuals make informed decisions about sexuality, taking into account the cultural and spiritual differences of each person. Sexual Health Centre Saskatoon would like to see information and services related to sexuality and reproductive health provided to everyone as a basic human right.

Given these beliefs, Sexual Health Centre Saskatoon has adopted the following:

Mission Statement

Sexual Health Centre Saskatoon aims to ensure that information, resources, support, and services of the highest quality regarding sexuality, contraception, and reproduction are available and accessible to all in our community who need them. Our organization encourages responsible decision-making and behavior, which is respectful of the needs and of the choices available to each individual.
