Terminology
Before reading the terminology section, it is important to note self
identity refers to the global understanding a person has of
himself/herself rather than a label which defines someone as something
they may not embrace themselves.
This terminology provides health care professionals with useful terms
and phrases which will create a better understanding of lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transsexual, transgendered, two-spirited, intersexed,
